Research Focus: Joining
One main focus of the KTP is joining of polymers. This procedure is mainly used with complex part geometries, which cannot be fabricated or only with a lot of effort within one work step. The range of tasks of the KTP includes research, optimization, further- and new development of all serial welding processes with industrial significance.
Especially important are laser beam welding, microwave welding, heating-cooling welding, and minimization of wear while vibration welding. Additionally, with the use of new substances, for example injection molded sintered metals, our researchers were able to find new fields of application for polymer injection molding.
